Depression...

Call it what you may, payback for being cocky, karma for that terrible illustration in the Daily Iowan, or just plain suckology, losing sucks. I spent the better part of the week leading up to this letdown telling my wife, "you know, I really don't care, there an unproven commodity" and other B/S like that. After the fact, the level of that B/S has escalated. I screamed nasty things at the TV, made funny lunging movements (with my fists most often), and felt my heart race and then felt it drop. The Hawkeyes have effectively ruined by day. But why should they. There's several reasons; being 17.5 point favorites (nice work Vegas), knowing that the rest of year will suck, having to look ISU'ers in the face, and then watching football for the rest of the afternoon and seeing better plays, better athletes, and better coaching. It's tough to stomach. But you know what, I'll wake up tomorrow and it'll hurt less, and less the next day. There will be times when the emotion comes back, but at very least, regardless of how bad I ever feel about having to endure bad Hawkeye football, I'll still be a proud graduate of the University of Iowa.
